The publication of this volume of piano music is one amongst many events celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the Academia de Música São Pio X. The aim was to highlight the talent that the Academia has nurtured over the years together with the works of close associates of the Academia and its founder Fr Áureo Castro. Apart from symbolizing the reunion of music friends and showcasing the achievements of music exchange, it also leaves behind important musical historical documents for Macau, allowing more people to appreciate their music works and accomplishments. The selected pieces in the collection encompass different levels and styles, including solo piano works, four-hand duets, and piano work for multiple performers. In addition to composer biographies, some composers have provided introductions to their compositions, allowing performers to gain a deeper understanding of the works. Furthermore, the charm of many of the pieces reflecting Macau’s unique culture would also appeal to music lovers and pianists.
