Organ Enrollment
Course description
This course offers structured musical training for students with a strong interest in organ music. Participants will develop a solid technical foundation and improve their performance skills. Course content will be adjusted according to each student’s ability and level. Students will also be encouraged to take public examinations based on their progress.
Dates
The course runs for one academic year, which is divided into three semesters from September to July of the following year (August is summer holiday). Each academic year includes 36 lessons; each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Lessons are mainly conducted in individual lessons, with approximately 2-3 group classes per semester depending on actual circumstances.
Lessons are held on Saturdays. Individual lesson time will be arranged between the instructor and the student.
Course requirements
- There is one mid-term assessment each academic year (held in January or February). The instructor will review the student’s learning progress and performance. Before the end of the academic year, students must participate in the organ recital, which serves as the final assessment for that year;
- The course emphasizes self-initiated and consistent practice;
- Students are advised to practice for at least 2-3 hours per week.
Entry requirements
This course is for applicants with basic piano or organ skills. Applicants must meet the following:
- Age: Suitable for persons aged 13 or above
- Music qualifications: Completion of ABRSM Grade 5 (or above) in piano (or an equivalent qualification). Relevant certificates must be provided at the time of application; or applicants must have studied piano for at least 6 years
- Priority given to applicants (for Academia students only) recommended by an instrumental teacher
- Priority given to applicants who previously enrolled in the Academia’s organ certificate courses
- Number of places: approximately 6 (subject to actual applications)
- Language: Cantonese
Auditions
Entry is competitive by audition. Musical potential, suitability for the course, and the number of places available, are all taken into consideration.
- Applicants should play a piano piece of your own choice within 3 minutes.

Tuition
- Tuition fees for the entire academic year are divided into three installments: (1st semester) September to December; (2nd semester) January to April; (3rd semester) May to July;
- The monthly tuition is MOP 2,720 which includes 7 hours of using the organ per week. If extra hours are needed, an extra fee will be charged accordingly.
